An Interesting Theory
I shall entitle it.. Mother Earth
Mother earth made us to make plastic..
since she couldn't make it herself.
so now.. she has all the plastic she could want..
so its bye bye humans
just like she made the dinosaurs..
which created oil (wiki that shit)
which allowed us to make the plastic..
so.. basically
Mother Earth made the dinosaurs..
killed the dinosaurs..
that then in much later years.. made oil
and she created us
to use said oil
to make plastic
and now that the plastic is made.
Mother Earth will kill us.
and maybe.. now that we need oil again...
one day the dinos will come back..
and the cycle will start all over agian..
The End
so.. that was all in summary. and from bits n pieces in a bar setting.. so i mighta missed some of it.. but i think you get the point..
but anyways.. i never heard anyone suggest such an idea.. and found it intrigueing..
you can thank Jon of the matches for that.
That all aside.
the show was awesome..
grooved to the hundred days.. who will be playing with Panda.. uhm i mean Dizzy Balloon at their CD release on the 26th at bottom of the hill..
go out an support.. thats about to be one crazy night
Jon did very well considering his partially fractured finger.. or something like that
the new matches bassist is a cool kid.. i think he fits with that band pretty well
my best wishes go out to Jamie n Ben. they did a great job.
now will someone please give me the story behind their bassist and his bare feet?
not really feeling all that insghtful
don't have much information to... inform people of either.. soo..
oh and people. start sending messages n comments to the cold hot crash. get them to play more shows. (that's for you john schuman)
as always... I've been Paige.
oh also.. heading up to Oregon end of September.. if people have any insight into the local Eugene scene.. let me know eh? i don't wana start going through music scene withdrawal.
and this is for you Dave Smallen.
wow.. this post was almost utterly pointless..
eh. oh well.

Whatever Happened To Zebrahead?
you can hear the whole story HERE
(that's Shawn's Blog..)
the info is also up the matches myspace..
so yeah.. major bummer..
if anyone has a working link.. send it my way eh?
its funny though.. cause... if they were just some small band.. it wouldn't matter.. but since they are getting press.. and have a label that can be held responsible etc.. its like they are made an automatic target.. honestly.. who cares if some kids ran through a roundabout in London? are you really going to put a hold on their new video just because you feel like being dicks? honestly.. get over it.. there are bigger issues in the world. let the people enjoy the video.. all this other bullshit is just so unnecessary
so while searching for the video elsewhere i came across this interview with Shawn Harris back in August last year... and he's talking about how they got their start.. and L3 and how that started.. and how.. they thought they weren't punk especially with how they got their start.. but then his hero Lars thought it most definitely was punk rock.. all very interesting.. hah
but.. so... later they get into the story behind shoot me in the smile
and Shawn goes into this description about how a lot of their songs are influenced by bands they tour with.. and how they had just done a tour with Zebreahead and Lit when they were inspired for that song.. and how Zebrahead had been playing huge arena shows with Bon Jovi and KISS and what not.. and how like a year later.. they had lost a lot of those screeming fans that once knew their name..
"its about getting... taking your picture when you're young, popular, beautiful, skinny, because we're all goin' out of style... Everyone's going to forget about us. I feel that way, I mean its the whole scene.. it... its just.. there are so many new bands coming out and.. and the record labels needing to sell new stuff.. the people get excited about new music you know?... and there are very few bands that last more than a handful of years you know? ...which is just kinda the way the structure is.. you gotta be an anomaly to last any period of time.. you know?... so its almost like live as hard as you can die young.. as a.. as a new group.. its gunna happen"
I thought it was some interesting insight.. and i recently was actually thinking.. man.. i haven't really heard much/though of Zebrahead lately...i cought them at icast once... they put on a great show..
but yeah... just some ranting n what not..
i wish the matches boys luck with dealing with this bullshit.
also.. they are playing the oakland art and soul festival tomorrow.. come check it out and support the community.. it should be awesome.
new topic, totally different band..
The Trophy Fire has their cd release show at Rickshaw on sept 4th.. I expect everyone to be there... should be great.. with some special guests... and those boys are scheduled to be on Soundcheck this Sunday.. so tune in..

Attack of the Missing Bassists
on another note about bassists... I met the possible new bassist for the Matches tonight as well as his dad... seems like a cool kid. Have you ever met a band and could just tell style wise and personality wise who played what role in the band?.. Like looking at/talking to Shawn Harris one automatically concludes he is the vocalist. Or Justing, he fit the bassist "type" very well. Well.. I got the bassist vibe from this kid too.. Dylan I believe his name was... anyways.. things are looking bright for the new Matches lineup.
Caught the Elephone cd release show tonight... ironically enough.. I got there just after Elephone's set... I'm kinda bummed about that... but.. scissors for left was great... those boys know how to put on a show.. there was a whole storyline.. and stuff.. at parts it was like a stand up comedy act... but nothing beats a spotlighted slowmotion mock fight. basically there was this whole battle back n forth between scissors and locksley.. and it was quite entertaining.. the music wasn't bad either..
haha
what was learned tonight:
candy bars were once 5 cents...
I am awkward therefore i make faces at people
i can make it from bryant st freeway entrance to ygnacio valley road in walnut creek in 17 minutes WITH freeway construction
and there were a few more life lessons.. probably more important too.. but i just can't remember them right now...
it was a nice evening.
oh and if anyone was wondering...
the spider invasion of my room has ended...
to be honest.. i'm a little sad..
it gave me something to preoccupy myself with when i was up at 4 am n couldn't sleep.
oh well... more su doku for paige i guess..and yes i am that cool.. I am a su doku ADDICT
you know.. thinking back.. between rushing from work to shower change and get into the city by 10... and then getting home at 2... maybe i shoulda eaten dinner..
and i have a scissors for lefty song stuck in my head.. as good as it is... the words "next to argyle" and "Munkeys kill the miserables" really don't need to be repeating in my head...
that is all.
oh... and.... pianos are cool. bring them back.

Attack
so... going with tradition... I need a name for this new spider.. Timmy?... no.. doesn't suit it.. I'm feeling rather unoriginal... I dug thee.... Maureen. oh shit.. I lost it... its almost made a full circle of my room and is nearing my bed, its starting point.. and i don't know where it went..dun dun dunnn.
so.. if anyone has any suggestions of more productive things to do with my insomnia... please feel free to share.
-Paige
so i posted this.. but i had to update... cause.. as soon as i hit post... i turned around and mother fucking Maureen was chilling on the wall like.. fucking 5 inches from me in this attack position... not cool.
i moved my pillow.. Maureen ran up that wall.. made it back to the corner of my room where the hole is in the ceiling.. and almost went back in the hole.. but noooo.. Maureen then went out for another run around my room... but.. i have no alternate beds to go sleep in tonight.. so.. I caught the spider and moved it elsewhere... if anyone cares...
THE END
... I really should sleep..

Too Many Titles To Choose
You spelled it wrong!
Its a Little Blades of Glory

Anton is one quirky kid.
... or should I say Manton...
so... these are the audio files.. and some videos from my conversation with Anton....
and.. the Bright Eyes video Hot Knives that supposedly Anton is embarrassed about.. since he doesn't like how he looks...
sound quality is shitty... but just deal with it.
you also might have to click save file or some shit to actually get these... its like.. 530 am... i'm to out of it to make it more user friendly
Section 1
Section 2
Section 3 (video)

CHOCOLATEPANDABEARUNICORNFACTORY
this discovery just might have made my night.
but I'll get to that later...
so some decent shows have happened in the past month...
I was originally going to do a whole thing on how Judgement Day is one of the most unrecognized great talents in the bay area.. but the more i thought about it.. the more i was uncertain I could claim that... I think more.. they simply don't fall into the normal circle where I find myself...
or maybe that its just 'cause they are so beyond the bay scene, I mean hell Anton and Lewis appeared on Conan a couple weeks ago...
So i find myself here, which is nowhere. I got some insight into the band, but specifically Anton at their show at Gilman a little while ago... I'll hopefully post some clips eventually...
So unable to claim them unrecognized, but certain of their greatness, where do i go?
Judgement Day, and neither they nor I spelled it wrong... its just how cool they are.
One thing that is safe to say is that these two brothers are born musicians.
On a side note... I have this .. thing.. where I refuse to kill spiders... you know how normally if you see one crawling on your wall you'll take a shoe to it or something.. I wont. I'll find something to capture them in and release them outside... who am i to decide what lives and what dies just for petty comfort.
Well last night one happened along my wall.. and while attempting to catch it, it fell onto my bed.. now along with my "thing" about not killing them I also have this fear of bugs, spiders specifically, jumping at me or crawling on me.. and so of course.. there was no way in hell I would be sleeping in my bed after that.. so I wandered into my sisters room and stole her bed (she's not at home) and I was not taunted by another spider that night..
now currently laying on my bed writing this.. that same spider has graced me with its presence, and is currently crawling along my ceiling making its way over to my Nor Cal Compilation 2005 poster, also on my ceiling.. and I am faced with the issue of what to do.. however seeing as how it isn't near my bed and runs no risk of dropping on me... I'll leave it be for now..
I mean.. again, who am I to kill it. what did it do to me?.. if anything it was kind enough to eat that moth that, unfortunately for the moth, happened into my room and upon said spider.. In fact, I think I will name the spider Max.
And running further with this tangent... when i was I think fourteen, actually when I turned 14 exactly... my boyfriend of the time gave me a present.. SLC Punk on DVD and a bug wand thing.
It was a mini vacuum that sucked the bug up into a tube for you to later release.. To this day I believe it to be the best birthday present I ever received. And although that seems the most absurd random present to be given ever, it was relevant at the time.. but thats another story... ironically involving the naming of spiders that were in my room.. like Max.. but i have been given some pretty strange gifts... my uncle gave me a rolling pin one year... I got a mini vacuum for Christmas once too...
Uhhoh ... while writing this pointless shit that gives some insight into just how odd I am.. I have lost sight of Max... I think he may have crawled into the hole in my ceiling..
So back to the brilliance of Judgement Day...
There is somthing captivating about them, the passion, the intensity of the music...
All I can say is that I will be forever hooked.
Let's see.. other than that Gilman show... by the way I really do love the Gilman.. of my favorite venues it ranks about... 3rd or 4th
I was at the Fillmore last week.. The Matches, Scissors For Lefty, Brilliant Red Lights.
it was pretty cool.. did some filming of the Matches set for the band.. got snuck in the back entrance.. all that fun stuff... I had a really good time.. and enjoyed the show..
but what i enjoyed more was that I got to talk to Dave Smallen whom I haven't seen in a little while.. there was talk of sex and sleeping in sex tainted beds... I also learned he used to work in the kitchen, which then brought up the famous nachos (which were backstage for everyone)..
which lead to a statement/phrase he made, that for some reason, I was charmed by: Memory Casserole
Dave explained how he just couldn't stop eating them... it brought back great memories..
and it made me think about how such simple things can be such great catalysts for our memories. How say a person can hear some random song, and remember another time when that song had been playing, and they can remember the weight of the air, the vibe of the time, the emotions they felt, the people they were with, the conversations they had. Music stimulates, it captures moments in time. From the vapid songs, to the deep involved ones..
I hear this one spice girls song and it works for two moments for me.. back when I was like 9 on my way to a camping trip.. my dad and like four of my friends blasting it in my old suburban (now recently totaled) I can feel the wind in my hair, the lightness of the moment.. the pure bliss.. and then i remember the time when I worked at a special needs camp and had to dress up like Ginger and lip sync on stage to a bunch of the campers.. the embarrassment, the nervousness, the excitement, the goofiness, the one camper who had the biggest crush on me..
and remembering those events.. reminds me of others and on and on...
I'm in a rambling mood tonight.. I couldn't sleep..
Okay so.. on Friday I went to the Goodbye Panda show at bottom of the hill.. this band Felix Dukes opened.... and I loved them... I haven't found many new bands recently that I liked.. I haven't been exposed to as many as I used to be back in the icast days and close post icast days
I'd learn of like 3 new great bands a week.. now I'm lucky if i hear of one in a month..
but these guys I liked... They could possibly be a sign of where the sound is headed.. but that could also be in many different directions.. they had their own thing going on... it just seemed... right. they have a show coming up at hotel utah that people should check out.
Now Panda.. it was not a actual goodbye to the band but rather a goodbye to their name show... and the results... I'm still a little wary of... so.. the name...from Panda to... Dizzy Balloon.
I mean if they dig it and can rock it. that's all that matters right? but it just doesn't sit right with me... maybe it will grow on me... I mean in type/writing its not bad.. but saying it aloud... it just sounds off.. its not.. aesthetically pleasing to me I guess..
at the show there were also a sort of EPs available... With I'm Just Me, Crazy Jane, and a revamped Chinatown..
so... changes to Chinatown... I didn't dig all that much either... but who am I to say what works and what doesn't... but really boys, "come on come on its going round, look to your left, look to your right" what the hell is that shit? "look at the sky look at the ground"
who knows maybe I'm just not diggin' changes in general right now... but I think these guys are just so much better than what they have put out.. they can do so much more with what they have. Maybe I have interpreted their goal with music and their band entirely wrong, maybe I don't know a thing about their style, who they are as a musical entity.
I just see it all going down hill.. and it worries me.. because when I first saw them they were just dripping with potential.. and they were getting there.. and now, I don't know.
I guess we'll see how things go..
oh and as for the title of this post...
for those of you who got the street to nowhere 7" and actually listened to it..
the hidden track.. I believe on side B ... is titled CHOCOLATEPANDABEARUNICORNFACTORY and yes the caps and lack of spacing are required.
oh Dave Smallen is a silly boy.
now that its nearing 5 am and sunrise... I really should go to sleep... I've been staying up till about 5 quite a bit recently.. yet haven't put in the effort to go watch the sun actually rise.. i see the glimpse as it comes over Mt. Diablo and then I give in and pass out.
but I will do it, and I will do it soon... perhaps Saturday morning... we shall see.
Yours Truly,
Paige
man, I really do use the word "which" quite a bit...
and fuck the grammar and spelling errors. err.. it adds character? haha

I Didn't Realize...
if anyone was wondering, I'm going to be attending University of Oregon.
So.. finally got out to a show...
Scott formerly of poor Bailey's new project, Picture Atlantic, An Angle, and Audrye Sessions
I went solo to this show.. I have learned I make a pretty decent wallflower.. but that is besides the point.
Scott's set was amazing. His music is the kind I could listen to for hours (or in this case watch) and never tire of it.
didn't pay too much attention to Picture Atlantic.. kinda just seemed like the same ol' from them
An Angle was alright from the part of their set i caught
Audrye Sessions was great... I like how they have kinda meshed a bunch of members of different bay bands together. They've got James formerly of Push To Talk on drums, Anton Patzner on violin, and 2 guys from Poor Bailey. its great!
Talked to Ryan for like a minute before they set up, barely recognized him with his longer hair.. had to do a triple take. He seemed kinda off... but man.. as soon as he got on stage and got into the songs... that all just melted away.. although there was a sort of haunted vibe from him that night.. but that was the first time I'd seen him not extremely tipsy in a while... so who knows
the guys of Overview came out to the show... I have been trying to get an interview with them but keep getting blown off... raise your hand if you think I should give up. ... yeah... me too..
they're talented but its too much effort.
also.. between now and the last post... i caught a show at red house... Judgement Day was playing, and i couldn't resist. They were sdjngdsg bdjgb dgndsd mind blowing as usual. hopefully I'll be able to share some insight on them soon...
speaking of Judgement Day... they're acoustic EP release (i think that's what it is) is this Friday at Gilman. DESA and Birdmonster and another band are playing. This show is one you don't want to miss.
and that's basically all...
oh. also, still looking for job or someone to join on tour.
let me know if you hear of anything

Will Call Is the Shit
Went to the
reasons why i went:
The Matches
The Rocket Summer
so.. there was the reg line to get in.. and the will call line..
the reg line was down the block and around the corner... full of young teens dressed their altiest...
and the will call line.. was on the other end of the building.. around 30 feet long.
it worked out well...
this was the first.. bigger concert I've been to in like 3 years...
I'm used to the smaller shows that are bottom of the hill the
so this was a little different for me..
i must say.. i didn't like it
the sound wasn't that great either...
funny story though..
so the crowd.. you could tell the majority didn't go to a lot of shows...
there were an insane amount of fan girls to.. it was... different...
but during the matches set.. the crowd was swaying like no other..
i don’t know if its cuz everyone was pushing forward so much.. or ‘cause people didn’t know how to hold their own.. but it was bad.. and at one point like.. the middle front region... 20 kids just collapsed...
i laughed..
and so there were these kids on the ground.. not knowing what to do.. i think it took like 2 minutes to get them all up....
the end
the sickest kids ever or something like that opened... they were alright..
not a big fan.... they almost tried too hard.. no thats not it.. they def had a cocky attitude though..
Sonny was after them. no me gusta.
The Matches were awesome of course... haven't seen them live in over 6 months i think?
the set list was kinda lame... a lot of decomposer songs... i prefer the E Von Dahl album and the new album A Band in Hope
the boys are cool though...
Rockets Summer was awesome as well.. didn't really know their new stuff that well.. so..
and All Time Low... they were aight.. i guess
so insight into the music industry... more into the world of the Matches.
Jon has a no boob signing policy...
ya.. that was awkward to witness...
and fan's mothers slip their daughters phone numbers into Shawn's pockets...
awkward as well.
was supposed to stop by talking house after the show... Scissors For Lefty is in recording..
i was planning on hanging out for a bit... but plans got changed...
and thats basically it
The Matches new album is pretty tight...
go out n buy it.. I like it quite a bit
check out Wake the Sun and To Build A Mountain.
oh i was talkin to Miles Hurwitz about to build a mt
i guess from scanning the message boards.. no one has really noticed, acknowledged that the song is a political/worldly aware song..
if you haven't either..
take a listen again and think about it..
and then maybe go out and get some in depth convos going on it.. either with friends or on the boards
i was also talking to Dave Smallen for a lil bit...
Things are going well with the work on the new album...
he says it should be coming out.. early next year...
but thats just like a guestamation
Paige is tired.
and lacking brain activity.
can’t really think of anything else to say.
End.
oh. Paige needs money.
who wants to pay her?
I'm willing to work for said money..
but.. of course will accept free cash.. hah
seriously though...
anyone have a paying job available..
will settle for unpaid internship with good experience ops

Reminiscing
first of all..
my grammar and spelling sucks.
don't even get me started on sentence structure (or lack there of) or hell the lack of writing structure in general...
but anyways..
its funny.. I read posts about shows I've been to...
and i can jump right back to that moment.
who exactly i was with.
how i ended up at the venue.
the atmosphere.
the crowd.
the passion of the musicians.
the ride home.
even the exact spot of where i was standing in the room...
its crazy.
but i think also... its what i like... about music. it cements experiences into you.
i hear a matches song, and i'm back in my beat up 97 accord with my sister entering the Caldecott Tunnel blasting the E Von Dahl album (most often scratched out was on. that always was the epic song with me n my sister. everything would go silent and the volume knob would slide up. the song just filled everything around us)on our way back from a show at imusicast
I can relive the vibe, the energy, the cool night air, the bliss.
its something rare, something unique.
___________________________________________________
is it just me or do i often if not almost always get repetitive?
same bands, same memories, same praises, same adjectives, same obsession with my lack of a vocabularly, yadda yadda yadda...
and now I'm stuck in this - something needs to change - phase.
i think all of my most recent posts have had something of the sort mentioned...
okay.. I don't know where I'm going with this.. so I'm just going to be really random.. and then get in to some music stuff...
I applied to 13 schools. 2 of which were nice enough to give me a free application... one of which I wouldn't have even applied to if it weren't for the free app. and that one ended up being one of my top choices)
out of those 13.. I've been accepted to 10. denied by 1. and haven't heard from 2.
what I am left with... no matter what the last 2 say....
is I have no clue where I want to go.
I think it has come down to... location wise
Nor Cal ( SF State, UCSC)
Seattle (Seattle University)
Portland (U of Portland)
Salt Lake City (Westminster)
Chicago (DePaul)
New York (St. Johns)
heyhey! how about people vote where i should go! yes?
okay! do that. leave a comment with where you think.

I really wish i was going to SXSW this year...
coulda probably found a way to pull it off... but.. i just didn't invest any effort into it..
so.. sucks...
Talking House is doing the SFxSXSW showcase again. if your in Austin. Check it out.
Also.. March 18th... like... 5 days...
A Band In Hope is released (The Matches new album)
.... and its pretty tight.
its like a mix of their E Von Dahl Sound and their Decomposer sound
with a little 50s, 80s, Queen, and some other noticeable references thrown in there..
..whether purposefully or not..
It's definitely got some worldly aware songs in there as well..
No song is the same
I can see them in their music. maybe thats why I like it... I think the guys behind the music are so interesting in general... it just makes their music that much more?... maybe.
There is this one song.. that makes me think... Somewhere Over the Rainbow meets What A Wonderful World... its good.
its quirky, its aware, its fun, its witty, its energetic, its heartfelt, its lived.
go to a show and pick it up
they will be in town on the 26th

eh I'm bored with life.
someone spice it up for me?
also. Paige needs a job.
but willing to take an unpaid internship as well..
hit me up if you know of anything...
and in an attempt to be hipster, cool, etc

The Plague
well.. not really.. really mild head cold.. lucky me. but I've spent the past few weeks downing airborne and herbal supplements.
anyways... figure it was about time to update.
uhm.. caught a show at bottom of the hill like 2/3 weeks ago.. Panda... Maldroid... some others...
it was a pretty tight show. Panda should be like out touring. i could see them on like mtv and fuse like channels across the country just as they are now... but.. we'll see how that goes
also saw Overview at the red house.
was doing a production of the play Applause with my school theater group that night... so... right before intermission... i booked it outa the theater and to my car to head to downtown walnut creek to catch the show. i got there just as they went one... They are a fun band to see live.. definitely a band you can groove to.
talked to Spencer (lead vox/keyboard) after... of all the bands I've spoken with that have played the red house... they are the only ones that have said they liked it. The emphasis however was on the crowd (which was better than usual). They are used to playing for an older scene.. so it was cool for them to be playing to a room of kids no older than like only one being older than 20.
Should hopefully have an interview with them coming up...
Last week... went over to bottom of the hill.. to catch The Trophy Fire. They've gotten better since i saw them at the Foggy Holiday release show.. but then again, they were playing with a full band. it was a cool show... i was the only one there under 21... so it was a little awkward.. but hey.. its something I'm getting used to. Hell. maybe it just makes me that much cooler?... hah
and that's about it. for live music update stuff
so.. this blog in general has been lacking..
back in the day i was introducing like a new band a week..
and then had all like the band specs and links with those posts
so its about time to change things up a bit..
maybe put a little more effort in..
also.. depending on where i opt for college may change things also..
new scene.. whole new pool of bands...
maybe?
and title might be changed as well
so.. a couple other things..
this summer... I'm maybe looking to get out of the bay... maybe... tour... I've mentioned this before however, I'm still looking...
so.. if there are any bands out there that feel like having me tag along.. drop me a line...
I'll do merch.. drive... drag ya to the van when your nearly passed out drunk...whatever is needed
if that doesn't happen..
I'm also looking for a job..
or another internship..
I've got a lot of spare time this summer..

Best Piece of Music
That was my assignment for my music history class.
Bring in the best piece of music known to you
emphasis on the instrumental was implied...
and.. I sat there.. in my make shift seat-desk thing... in front of this little Scottish man with a thing for opera - staring at him.
The best piece of music ever written..
Is that even possible to determine?
so.. first thing that popped in my head: Hallelujah - Leonard Cohen
but then.. I said wait no...
there were others
and so I went home
and searched and search my music library
and came up with a few
but me being me, I had to stick with the bay bands.
slowly I developed a list
and about half the list had songs from bay bands..
and I chuckled to myself..
so.. since that day..
people have brought in the Ave Maria sung by Josh Grobin and then some other religious song that was a duet ... and then someone brought in this other song that was jazzy and all instrumental and honestly sounded to me like really really bad hold music.. it was too terrible to even be elevator music.. but that was my opinion... so... yea..
and then I consider my list.. and I have Cohen on there and Queen and the
and I chuckled again..
silly me
how I refuse to completely conform or more just half ass assignments like this
I could bring in some grand instrumental by Mozart or something sung by Charlotte Church in her early days and be golden.
but no,
I must spend a good portion of my evenings, sitting and listening to music, all the possibilities.
entirely rejecting settling for a song that just seems to fit, but is by far not the best piece of music written
but being that my teacher is who he is.. i am going to stray away from many of the more rockish songs for his sake and the sake of my future in his class
and with that i am limited
so maybe the songs I have chosen to chose from (haha) aren't the BEST ever... but from what I could find and the mood I was in they are my selections
hallelujah - Leonard Cohen (covered by Dave Smallen)
Famous Blue Raincoat - Leonard Cohen
... woulda also picked Chelsea Hotel No.2 if I didn't feel I might get bitched out for semi indecent content ... I was really in a Cohen mood
Dust and Bones - Audrye Sessions
Air Raid - Judgment Day (one of the few judgment day songs I have.. what a tragedy)
Mary Lee - Poor Bailey
Truce - The Dresden Dolls
Somebody To Love - Queen ('cause Queen is just awesome like that.. and Bohemian Rhapsody is just so overdone).. and I was listening to queen while writing this.. and I have now just taken the song off the list.. and then I thought Bicycle Race.. and then I went ADFHGDFSHFSHFDGFHDFHTRGEWFWEFSADKJNKJ I CANT CHOOOOOOSE!
I also thought Beatles but there were too many songs to sort through
I'm also kinda in a Billy Joel mood... best music ever written? not so much
maybe I should just bring in Galvanize by the Chemical Brothers and ruin my teacher's life..
or Britney Spears.. hmmm... that would generate some interesting results..
my selections are biased
i would think.
maybe its some inner satisfaction I'll get from playing those songs in class
thinking yea, I chose something a bit off the beaten path
or mhmmm, and I know the artists too
music makes people cool.
also the song choice could be influenced by the fact that out of the bands I like theirs had the most classical backing instrumental or opera like tendencies that I think my teacher might like 'cause deep down I'm a suck up or some shit
maybe I just wanna be edgy.
or maybe not.
maybe its cause even though there may be better written music out there,
these songs deserve recognition. or at least the artists in general
maybe I'll play a Cohen song and then ask people to raise their hands if they know who it was that wrote the song they just heard..
i bet anyone 10 bucks that no one does
double or nothing that not even my teacher does
...the best piece of music ever written...
I give up.
oh oh or maybe I'll choose....

Hey
preferable from the bay
give me something new, something fresh... something more then the same old shit I've heard time n time again
scratch that... a lot of it wasn't shit.... but now.. the stuff i seem to have glorified in the past is just being redone over and over.... same style at least... someone sport something exciting... something brilliant... something undeniably RIGHT.
its all grand.
but where is the new idea behind it.
the forward thinking
the risk
the truth
give me something worth it.
something.. mentally, physically, spiritually, musically - orgasmic
seems a lot of the bands/artists i used to listen to, love so much, are just lacking now... their new music they write just doesn't catch me, doesn't draw me in. Maybe they are resting on their past musical achievements... or maybe they've lost the passion they had when they were first struggling.... there was a certain fight you could note in their music, to introduce something different....maybe the people behind the sound have just changed...
but someone just give me something.
hope.
or maybe I'm just being over demanding..
maybe my taste has just changed...
or maybe my likes just haven't changed with the times.
someone bring something to the table.
thinking more about it...
i wanted to clarify...
a lot of the new stuff coming from bay bands is really good..
(note the songs posted on the friends of street to nowhere private myspace)
I've been really diggin' Waiting for the Pills.
and.. i was listening to Carolann tonight... and a new found fondness of it swept over me..
and then America is appealing to... touches on i think a lot of people's general views of our country..
and Panda's newer version of Chinatown is pretty tight..
but music from the bay as a whole, although good.... just doesn't ignite the same passion as it did...
I've been aching for something new in general... and maybe I'm just placing blame on the music.
time for a new adventure..
new stories
just new.
speaking of adventure...
was thinking it'd be cool to get out on the road for the upcoming summer...
any bands planning a summer tour i could hitch a ride on?
I'll work merch.. load/unload gear... become a guitar tech... be the designated driver...what ever...
just get me out of the bay for a bit?
some cool shows coming up..
check the my myspace calendar.. cause I'm too lazy to post them here or on the calendar link.
again.. thinking of changing up the whole feel of the blog... thoughts?
Yours Truly,
Paige
oh by the way..
did anyone else catch MC Lars' new song My Chemical Terrorist Romance... or something like that..
it was up on his myspace in December... but not for too long.. only a couple days..
i really wasn't sure how to respond to it...
i thought it was a sad attempt at something funny... which i don't think the world i ready for yet..
if ever...
the word degrading also comes to mind
but honestly.. I don't even think that portray what i really thought.. i couldn't really come up with words... it was kinda just like a mind blank.
