Just 4 Minutes
From Talking House to Bottom of the Hill... according to Map Quest. I claim it to be a bit more...I missed my turn... but oddly enough found my way back...
Seems that happens to me a lot. I'll miss a turn and then starting to freak out... 'cause hey... I'm not the most knowledgeable of the city's streets I'll turn at a random street. Continue on... turn again... and find myself either on the street I was supposed to originally turn on or 2 steps ahead of my print off directions.
However, it might just be that nearly every street runs into the others in the city. But I like to think I'm just skilled.
As to why I was checking Map Quest for directions from Talking House to BOTH... I just recently got an intern type thing with Talking House Productions... and I was going to see Street To Nowhere.
They were playing with The Devil's Own, Drag the River, and Rocky Votolato (I didn’t stay for Rocky Votolato's set though... I had to get up at 7 for school the next day)
Speaking of school. I have to get up... in... 6 hours and 10 minutes.
But if I don't get this posted... I won’t do it for who knows how long...
Not that I have much to say currently... just felt I needed to put a post up
So again. I went to a show at Bottom of the Hill
I can't even count the amount of times I've seen Street To Nowhere.
But then again, it’s never the same Street To Nowhere.
Each show has a different crowd, by at least 5 (for Street To Nowhere fans)... then there are the crowds the other bands draw which changes the feel, the sound changes from venue to venue, and different emotions fed into it all... But most of all, the guys are always changing.
Dave was the most outgoing on stage that I've seen so far.. But outgoing really isn't the word. Comfortable, at home.. Maybe that’s more the impression I got.
I've mentioned it before. But on the other night it was overpowering.
A funny thing I noticed during the set... after they play a song.. In my mind I start hearing whatever song that followed that one on their album. It’s never the song they play.. though.
Speaking of the order of the tracks. I think I've mentioned it before, but the way the tracks are set up is brilliant. The transitions fit well. Not to mention the pure genius of having The Sun follow Tipsy.
Man I seem to be in a YAY! Street To Nowhere mood. But let's move on from them shall we?
The Devil's Own.. and Drag the River (or at least the one guy from the band that was there) had a southern rock sound... a bit of that country twang thrown in there. I must admit I'm not a huge fan of it. (the twang, not southern rock... well.. I don't mind southern rock...) but that's not the point... wait..
Change of topic. Don't you hate how people exclude music just because of its labeled genre? I admit, I have done it. But then I generally notice what I’m doing soon after, feel like kicking myself, then revoke my previous statements. All I'm saying is... (for an example) go ahead and say you dislike the genre death metal, but don't exclude it entirely
Okay. Done with that.
So The Devil's own wasn't bad. I dug 'em enough. They just kinda came off as cool guys.
Drag the River, or as I said before the single member that was there was pretty good. A little bit of a downer set, but sound wise he was good. There was one song that I don’t remember the title of.. But there was a set of lyrics I loved, and I'm not sure why. "She's cranky when she's sober, so sweet when she's wasted..." ... don’t know why, but I dug it.
The more I listen to them the more I like them. Go check them out
I suggest listening to Beautiful and Damned
I have to get up in... 5 hours and 30 minutes So I'ma go to bed. And end this here
uhm ya...

Buffalo Exchange: Bringing People Together
It really is a great store.
I went and chilled on Telegraph with my friend Gabby today... and we went in buffelo exchange...
and i found some pretty awesome jeans... but they didnt fit how sad eh?
anyways to the point of this post..
its insane how many people i see in there that i know.
Ive seen people that went to my school back in the day
and this guy named May that works at the Hot Topic on Telegraph
(that i have also oddly seen/chilled with in downtown walnut creek..)
I've seen Anton of Audrye Sessions in there.
and others....
And today John Devoto of the Matches was in there.
Can't find a friend? look there.
On another note... who thinks fat slice is the best pizza ever?
... although those mini pizzas from target are pretty good...
but fat slice owns all
... did i mention im hungry?
People should check out Slurp on Telegraph as well...
their wonton soup is amazing.

Holy Days Are for Band Shows
Against the Grain
Kid Innocence
Panda
The Buttercream Gang
@blakes tonight (tonight being Easter, April 8th 2007)
I dig Against the Grain.. The vocals and the instrumental dont quite match, but oh well. The guy on lead vocals reminded me a lot of Shawn Harris of the Matches, not his voice but his stage presence and facial expretions. They had a lot of energy
Kid Innocence.. I haven't seen them in a looooong time. Back in the days of icast maybe? They are pretty cool. One song they played reminded me of Panic at the Disco... i wasn't sure how to react...
Panda.... was fantastic. as usual. Oh those boys and their illegal lazers.. The guy that had my pants from the cafe du nord show (see previous post entitled "Get Your Own Pants" for clerification) was at the show tonight as well. yay Panda fans!... seemed like Panda was drawing an older following tonight.. by older i mean not 14 and 15 but like mid 20s.
I know stuff about Panda you dont know.. *sticks out tongue*
confused? good.
Only heard the first 2 songs of The Buttercream Gang's set 'cause i had to get home.... Not enough to form a real opinion on them... but they did have this whole echo/response with background vox.. it was pretty trippy sounding... trippy bring good.
no pics/videos 'cause im still trying to figure out the camera malfunction. kinda annoying as of now I lost all pictures and videos of the Street To Nowhere show at rickshaw stop and my high school's rock show. extremely lame. so.. I'll try and fix the camera issue.. but who knows
upcoming shows...
April 18th Street To Nowhere plays Bottom of the Hill
April 22nd MC Lars plays Rickshaw Stop
April 27th DESA plays Bottom of the Hill

Camera Issues
I went to slims in the 23rd and cought the rocket summer, early november, bla bla bla show. Pretty chill.. although by the end of the night i was dead center 3 people back... and these 2 guys kept like shoving everyone away to "protect" the girls they were with. ... and i was standing there... a girl... and able to take the pushing of the crowd... so.. i say. if your going to a show and plan on being in the front. hold your own or quit your bitching and move.
Rickshaw Stop. last night
I'd never been to rickshaw... I dig the place. It's got a cool set up and what not. plus the sound in that place is great... or atleast it appeals to me. MC Chris, Street To Nowhere, and Piebald were on the bill. A very deverse group.. except not.
MC Chris does a character in Aqua Teen Hunger Force and other cartoons. bla bla bla He apeals to the computer geek type, but also a vast array of others not of the typical genres. I dug his set.. not quite my style or what not... but good either way..
I brought my camera to document the event... but once i got there i was too lazy to actually take pictures... plus i was way far back for his set. so i dont have anything from MC Chris' set.
sorry
The crowd response to him as unreal. and crowd participation.. like seriously.. they followed everything he said... at 1 point MC Chris had everyone take 4 steps back.. and then puts their arms out.. and walk forward like zombies.. it was hialrious.. and nearly everyone in the corwd took part.
Another thing about his set that stood out was the complete pro drug atmosphere.. dont get me wrong there is a deffinite yay drugs thing going on at nearly every show.. but MC Chris was pretty open about it. Telling people to more or less smoke him out after the show. 'twas great
There was a noticable amount that left after his set. But they might not have left left... but just found a place far away from the stage, still in the venue.
Anyways.. that allowed me to move up to the front... where i decided... hell might as well take video/pics if im close. So i have 2 videos i think and a few pics from Street To Nowhere's set.
To my amazement and joy... they played leave the cameras on. which i recorded for all to enjoy.
One word that would greatly describe the Street To Nowhere set is electifying. They guys were full of energy and Dave was committed to the songs. It is insane to see the difference of how he acts on stage now verses back in the day.
this one kid rolled up.. and was listening to his ipod... i cant stress how much it bugs me to see people listening to their ipods at shows
(continued 5 days later)
i went to my school's rock show recently.. interesting... hilarious band called osh core. ska sound
my friend was in a band that did rage against the machine covers... not bad
my friends bro was in the healinng band... which was Geryon.. like a death metal sound.. i dug it.
uhm pics and videos were taken from the last mentioned shows... not the rocket summer one though 'cause the promoter was lame and wouldnt allow cameras
but the pics i do have might not get up ever because ther was some kinda of memory error and my camera claims there are no pictures or videos on it. but there are.. so igotta figure that out first.. so basically it is attack of the cameras again.
