Get Your Own Pants

SO uhm..... Cafe Du Nord... last night.
Panda was playing with Miggs and Silver Griffin but i didn't stick around for Silver Griffin's set.

so... uhm... I'm not gunna bore you guys with my adventure trying to get to the venue due to my friend's lack of direction... and my inablility to go the right direction on market...lets just say.. we took a 20 minute detour...

i got these new pants yesterday while out looking for shoes for prom ... i ended up with a new purse.. 2 pairs of pants... and 2 pairs of shoes.. but not for prom.. hah.. (i'd also like to point out that i don't usually buy stuff so/own purses.. this was kinda huge for me) anyways... one pair of pants was striped gray n black and from H&M... and there was a guy behind me in line at the show that was wearing the same pants.. made me kinda sad.. i just thought i'd share.

so ya... I wasn't all that ecstactic about Miggs.. i mean they weren't bad.. but i didn't really find them all that appealing... they also had a sort of christian rock feeling to 'em

you know.. I really like the set up at Cafe Du Nord... but i still like bottom of the hill way more

Panda's set was awesome besides the technical difficulties with guitars.. and string breaking... and what not.. I'd have to say Panda is pretty far up there on what bands you need to see before you die.. but not quite at the Suburban Legends status... one day man.. one day.

Pictures and videos are up. so check the sidebar...

In the words of Petros (this is not a direct quote... but close) "check out Cold War Kids and Honeycut"

Honeycut:

Cold War Kids:

and that's basically it...
Panda is playing verge on the 30th... so if you feel like driving out to san rafael.. have fun with that...

Kiss Kiss

is a band... with an INSANE sound.. of which i majorly dig.

its like... the dresden dolls meets system of a down meets a tid bit of the moldy peaches.. well sorta. They've deff. got their own original sound.

amazing?
i think so

although Kiss Kiss isn't a bay area band(from New York)... I've been into them lately.. and think you guys should give 'em a listen.

Haven't seen them live.. but can only imagine how sdgndsjgnsdfkgjnsdignsdkgjdn it would to seen them.

they are playing SXSW ... so if ur in Austin on the 16th they are playing at Redrum.. try and check them out... playing with Pompeii... (I've posted on pompeii before)

Kiss Kiss Myspace:

you can also download some of their music free... and legally at freeindie.com (check sidebar for link)

hope you enjoy,

Too Many Possible Titles

Camera betrays again... who wants to buy me a new memory card?

So uhm... Suburban Legends.. MC Lars... 5 Days Dirty... All The New... Space Monkey Gangstas @ Oakland Metro
... if you weren't there... you missed out on.. LIFE. If there is anything one should do before he/she dies, it is to go to a Suburban Legends show. There is no question about it.
Sadly i cant share much suburban legends greatness with you since my memory card on my camera ran out of room early into their show.. but you can check Daniela's site/photobucket for more media. and it was too sketch to take my camera out during the 5 days dirty set.. but Daniela managed to get some damn good shots so go to her site for those too.

so uhm.. my hands smell like beer and sweat.. i just noticed. (and i have washed them since i got home).. both of these fluid type things are not mine. hm.. ya beer got spilled all over my new purse. but thats fine. it needed some wear. and as for sweat.. that usually happens in crowds at shows.
speaking of crowds. i had the best spot. trust me.. although.... i had crotch in my face half the time. but again.. i really didnt mind.. well.. sorta.

^=my view.
(Vince of Suburban Lenends)...

Daniela and i played the word game again... with words that start with the letter Z... it was pretty sad. I won with Zelda though... wait.. no.. hm. i dont remember.. maybe it was... zen..or Zune

Who else has noticed that the oakland metro almost always opens doors/starts shows late?

Its always great to get free stuff. yay stickers. oh and thanks for the CD Lars!
He’s got a show on April 23rd I think it is at Cafe Du Nord. Check that out if your 18+

I noticed tonight.. that I’ve never really bashed on a band (on this blog) .. like.. I can't name one time in this blog where I've outright stated I thought a band was horrid. (although I was pretty harsh about the red house) Or even somewhat sucky.... hmm good thing or bad thing? I don’t want to be mean... plus just 'cause I think they sound like shit doesn't mean someone else doesn't love them.... I don’t know.. maybe I think its better to just promote the good and ignore the bad/let people find out for themselves.

Hah fueled by ramen.... there were many jokes at the show... but I guess you'd have to have be there..

oh oh.. I made a friend.. his name was Bucky.. he was friends with the guys from 5 Days Dirty... he did a back flip off the stage during their set.. Another kid tried.. no one caught him.. it was just kinda " oh.." smack! and he hit the ground...rather funny actually... but ya.. Bucky's FAVORITE word was "awesome." .. I don’t know why I'm sharing this.. I’m pretty sure no one cares.. so anyways..

5 Days Dirty put on a pretty good show.. they are playing warped tour. so if you go.. check them out

All the New wasn't... bad..... I wasn't a huge fan of their stuff.. but it wasn't bad. Their last 3 songs in the set were actually pretty good.

I gotta say.. i LOVE the name Space Monkey Gangstas... but then who wouldn't? I dug 'em.

MC Lars... MC Lars... MC Lars.... what a funny kid. Definitely a must see live.

Vince and Brian of Suburban Legends and Lars rapped together..... it was BRILLIANT. they shake their butts well.

Panda is playing verge on mach 30th. check it out.
There is some ska show at slims on April 6th... maybe check that out?
Minipop plays Oakland Metro on the 29th or March

also. check the vdieos/pictures i was able to get.. pretty funny video of MC Lars

The Resurrection of Push To Talk

So... on Saturday I was hanging with a few friends, and lacking things to do... we decided to head down to the local parkish area... and then proceeded to attempt to relive our youth, and went to go explore the creek. I had spent many hours searching and exploring that creek while my father played softball. I had found many frogs, blue gills, snakes, and all sorts of treasures back in the day. It was an adventure to my 8-year-old self. To my dismay it had changed. The creek was overgrown with reeds and what not... so no frog hunting for us, but... in the form of new contents… the creek adventure had conformed to my present self and interests.
Yup yup yup... the excursion proved to be fruitful after all.. I found…... a....
Push To Talk CD.... halfway stuck in mud. Insane eh?... a Push To Talk CD ended up in a creek in Walnut Creek... and I happened to find it. What are the odds?..

After our pathetic rice cake fight (do not question), my friends and I attempted to clean off the CD in a drinking fountain... but refused to actually touch it.... due to its somewhat infestation… the CD was all yellowish and there were leach type things on it as well as frog eggs... appealing eh?

In the end...
I took a toothbrush and toothpaste to the CD last night 'round 12 am... and then popped it in my CD player..

and... IT PLAYED!
Thus the resurrection of Push To Talk

Fight! Fight! Fight!

... I don’t think me ears have rang after a show this badly in years.
The crowds yelling screaming and what not... made my hearing nearly distorted.

Went to Slims tonight con mi amiga Daniela. Panda played Oakland metro and push to talk / audrye sessions played bottom of the hill tonight as well. Sadly I couldn't be in more than one place at once... so The Actual, Street To Nowhere, The New Amsterdams, and State Radio it was.

The Actual is really growing on me. Max's voice (lead vox) is really appealing.. But ya.. I’ve been diggin' their sound... and people should check 'em out. They got major amounts of shows coming up. Check their myspace for dates.

I don’t know how long its been since I’ve seen Street To Nowhere... I think like... 3 months+. It was awesome... The crowd response has grown noticeably. It was pretty cool to experience The

New Amsterdams... hmmmmm... not quite the sound I’m into but I dig 'em. I really do like the use of the upright bass.

So uhm... State Radio... I can dig it. You should dig it. Then we all can dig it. Heh.. anyways.... If you get a chance to see 'em DO IT. They got an awesome sound, style, and what not..
During that set a fight broke out behind me... that was... interesting...
also... my friends camera died around the middle of the new amsterdam's set and then my memory card on my camera ran out of space.. it was like attack of the cameras. so that’s why there aren’t many pictures from the State Radio set. which really sucks.. ‘cause if I could have.. I woulda filmed the whole set. State Radio + live = grand.

so.. something proven to keep you occupied while in between sets... have a battle. Who can come up with the most words starting with an uncommon letter... like w or y. interesting times...

pictures and videos should be up in the next few days... check the links. also. there will be a new link on the sidebar to my friend Daniela's photos. check those out... her camera and the quality are better than mine

So I’ve mentioned before about how a show can be completely different from different spots in the venue. The first time seeing a band I fully support watching them from a further distance rather than right against the stage.. you get a better feel for the band.. but tonight my theory was proven wrong.. dun dun dunnnnnn… I was watching The New Amsterdams and I was down with them, but I think I woulda gotten more out of the set if I was further back.. which supports my thoughts. Then State Radio came on... and I haven’t seen them before, yet I was perfectly content being up close… maybe it all depends on the genre of the music..
okay.. its 2 am.. and I’m sitting on my computer… watching boy meets world.. alone… LAME..

Well that’s all for now I guess…
Quick question (I happen to be watching the Disney channel right now.. don’t ask and some music video thing came on..) who of you have ever heard of Everlife?

-Paige

so.. coming up.. Suburban Legends @ Oakland Metro on March 9th
The Matches @ Slims on March 16th.
